So, puh-leese don't think viewers are fooled. I know Food Network likes to make Bobby out to be some sort of Herculean figure and it wouldn't help that image if he was getting beat all the time by random chefs and cooks, but.I feel like I can't even trust the competition with the way it is presented.Īll you have to recognize is the "blind tasting" isn't.you have the chefs standing in front of the judges with practiced and ridiculous facial grimaces or grins when their dish is being discussed. Still, even in the reviews where they seem to prefer the contestants dish.somehow Bobby still wins. There are always a couple compliments, and one or two criticisms aired. Seems like a bit of a giveaway to me.Ĥ) It's impossible to rely on the judges reviews because half of it probably gets left on the cutting room floor. It can't possibly be magically stocked with everything. I know it's a Food Network kitchen, but it's not that big. The difference? The judges and their expectations and tastes.ġ) There are several shows where the contestants plate has better presentation, is more inventive and unique, and gets good reviews from the judges.but Bobby still wins.Ģ) Bobby "supposedly" doesn't know what he is going to be cooking.yet happens to have all of the ingredients he needs to take the special dish and make it his own. They have finished everywhere from 1st to 23rd over 6 years. I participate in BBQ Competitions and do my ribs exactly the same every time. Bobby wins like 90% of the time, and while I believe that Bobby has the experience and resume to cook just about anything well, I find it hard to believe that he can universally cook dishes that at least two out of three judges will prefer in a "blind tasting".įor one, there is always the variable of the judges preferences.do they like sweet or savory? Do they like spice and, if so, how much? Do they prefer traditional or inventive? Even if Bobby is an amazing chef, it still goes against the odds that he would be able to put down a dish that suits their preferences as often as they make it seem. Still, I feel like the judging or scoring on Beat Bobby Flay is skewed. I know that Bobby Flay is a world-renowned cook, an Iron Chef, and one of the faces of Food Network.
